Over Wintering the Firefly Petunia
- Before the temperature drops below 60 degrees or before the first frost of the year you’ll want to cut the plant back to about 2 inches above the soil.
- After cutting back your plant dig it up from your flower bed or planter. Place it into a container you can easily bring inside.
- Once inside find a window that can provide direct sunlight or consider using a grow light. You’ll want to make sure to keep them in an area that will stay between 65 and 75 degrees.
- Only water when the top inch of soil is dry. Some sources recommend fertilizing every few weeks with a liquid fertilizer designed for flowering plants. How often you fertilize would be based off your preference of how quickly you want the plant to grow while inside.
- Once spring rolls around and we are clear of the last frost of the year, you can replant your beauties outside.
*There is no guarantee that the Firefly Petunias will survive through the winter. That is based on how they are cared for.
*There is no warranty on any plants from Lawnscape Garden Center.
The only warranty available is for the hardy plants that our crew plants.
